Challenge – Why Static Pricing No Longer Works For Travel Sellers

Today’s B2B travel market is a battlefield of Airline private fares, corporate fares, NDC content, and ever-shifting demand. Manual markups and spreadsheets can no longer keep up and often lead to lost revenue, inconsistent pricing, and missed opportunities.

In our travel aggregator platform, Iris Pricing Engine breaks this legacy chain with an NDC-ready rules engine built for automation, governance, and optimizing how travel sellers handle markups and discounts in real time.

Iris Pricing engine enables travel sellers to:

  • Give options to add automated markup & discounts to sub-agencies
  • Maximize revenue opportunities from your negotiated fares or Private fares
  • Maintain a strong competitive position
  • Respond instantly to market shifts
Optimize Pricing in Real Time:
The Iris Travel Aggregator Event-Driven Profit Playbook

Predict: Route Demand Signals Before They Peak

  • Identify Emerging Demand: Iris leverages predictive analytics to spot demand surges before they happen, whether it’s a festival, conference, or major sporting event.
  • Monitor Live Dashboards: Track booking volumes, revenue, and point-of-sale activity by route, all in real time. This empowers you to anticipate and act on trends before your competitors.

Prepare: Pre-Load Rules for Rapid Response

  • Rule Templates: Deploy pre-configured pricing strategies with a few clicks. Set predefined margins for specific scenarios, like a 4% base fare markup for Miami flights during the Formula 1 week.
  • Supplier-Specific Strategies: Apply differentiated markups: steeper margins for NDC fares versus GDS, or prioritize LCC inventory for price-sensitive travellers during off-peak days. Assign rules to specific fare families, RBDs, or even individual suppliers.

Example:  Automatically increase margins on Emirates A380 London–Abu Dhabi flights during the F1 race or incentivize sub-agents with targeted discounts for premium cabins on key routes.

Profit: Execute & Optimize in Real Time

How Iris Pricing Engine Redefines Smart Pricing for Modern Travel Sellers
  • Live Demand Monitoring: Use the Iris dashboard to track bookings for target routes as they happen. Visualize which routes, agents, or sub-agents are driving volume and revenue.
  • Competitor & Demand Testing: Iris helps you respond quickly to competitors and market demand. Set rules to match or beat competitor pricing – for example, if a competitor agency drops prices by 2%, you can counter this with a 1.5% discount + upsell after-sales services.
  • Peak Window Maximisation: Based on your market and dashboard analysis, identify the peak times for bookings and apply time-based surge pricing as markups during a specific date and time window.

  • A/B Testing (View list of rules): Run controlled experiments, test different markup strategies, analyze conversion and revenue impact, and deploy the winning approach to optimize margins.

Iris Dynamic Markup Control in Action

Suppose you’re a consolidator holding a private fare agreement with British Airways and want to incentivize sub-agents to sell those seats on your terms.

With the Iris Pricing Engine, you can:

  • Set a markup of AED 100 on the fare, valid only for June 01-30
  • Limit it to specific flight timings (e.g., 12:00–4:00 AM on Tuesdays and Wednesdays)
  • Limit it to flights from Dubai to London Heathrow, operated by British Airways, via a specific supplier (e.g., Sabre/Amadeus)
  • Limit it to Prime Bookings only (not re-shopping)
  • Apply the markup to the total fare or base fare, for adults only
  • Choose between percentage or fixed markup, and set a minimum/maximum threshold
  • Decide if your sub-agents can see or override the markup and even define the range they’re allowed to markup further
  • Allow sub-agents to add their markup within a 1–10 AED range, any attempt to exceed this is automatically blocked

No spreadsheets. No manual approvals. Fare strategy automation done right
