flydubai has become the first airline to receive the International Air Transport Association (IATA) New Distribution Capability (NDC) Level 3 Certification on PADIS Publication 16.2 Schema
Wednesday, October 19, 2016 — Dubai-based flydubai has become the first airline to receive the International Air Transport Association (IATA) New Distribution Capability (NDC) Level 3 Certification on PADIS Publication 16.2 Schema, an industry-supported programme designed to simplify communication between airlines and travel agents.
flydubai has appointed TPConnects, a leading technology solutions provider, as its accredited partner to manage its NDC Standard platform. Acting as a travel aggregator, the NDC platform will provide travel agents with greater visibility on a range of ticketing options and preferences, resulting in increased transparency for passengers booking via travel agents.
Launched by IATA, NDC is a travel industry-supported programme for the development and market adoption of a new, XML-based data transmission standard for communications between airlines and travel agents.
“At flydubai we are continually innovating and looking at new ways to enhance our services. Our recent IATA NDC Level 3 Certification on PADIS Publication 16.2 Schema and the partnership with TPConnects demonstrates our commitment to providing our third party travel agents with up-to-date information, enabling them to offer the best value and deals for flydubai,” said Ramesh Venkat, Chief Information Officer at flydubai.
“The introduction of NDC by IATA marks a significant step towards standardising the offer and order management process for travel agents and other third parties. As flydubai’s travel aggregator TPConnects’ role is to transmit information back and forth from the travel agency to the airline and present the best offer created by the airline for the customer. We are pleased to see more airlines adopting the NDC standard and we are proud to be working with flydubai to ensure they are NDC capable,” said Praveen Kumar, Chief Technology Officer of TPConnects.
In March 2016, flydubai received its IATA membership certificate after successfully completing its Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) last year. The audit, which is a pre-requisite for an IATA membership, examined all the operational departments across the airline to ensure that the carrier’s internal processes promote; safety, integrity and effectiveness in its management systems.
